Who I am
Crafted with intention. Built for a lifetime.
At Appalachian Trading Company, I don’t chase fashion — I carry forward a lineage of craft.
This work began as a response to the loud, disposable world of modern “luxury,” where things are made quickly, marketed loudly, and forgotten just as fast. I wanted something different. Something honest. Something that felt like the way things used to be made — slowly, with care, meant to endure.
Every piece that leaves my workshop is shaped by hand in my 1830s Maine farmhouse, using time‑tested methods and materials chosen for longevity, not trends. These bags and garments aren’t created for a season or a shelf. They’re built for years of use, repair, and eventually, for the hands that will inherit them.
I believe in a quieter kind of luxury — one where function and beauty share equal weight, where materials grow softer with time, and where the marks of use become part of the story. My designs are simple, rugged, and refined, made to age with grace rather than fade with fashion.
This is craftsmanship with purpose.
This is utility with soul.
This is work that refuses to be fleeting.
For those who value depth over display, purpose over pretense, and quality over quantity — welcome. Whether you’re seeking a future heirloom or dreaming up a piece made just for you, you’re stepping into something enduring.
Welcome to Appalachian Trading Company.
We’re not here to follow trends.
We’re here to outlast them.
🌿 Philosophy of Care
The pieces I make are built to serve for years, not seasons — and caring for them is part of the tradition they come from. In the old world, a well‑made bag wasn’t replaced when it showed wear; it was tended, mended, and carried on. I hold to that same belief.
Leather is a living material. It softens with your touch, deepens with sunlight, and records the places you take it. With simple, occasional care, it will outlast us both. I encourage you to treat your piece the way it was made — with patience, respect, and a willingness to let it age honestly.
And should it ever need attention, I’m here. I stand behind every stitch that leaves my workshop, offering maintenance and repairs for as long as the piece is in your hands. Quality deserves stewardship, not replacement.
This is the quiet pact between maker and owner:
I build it to endure. You help it live a long, well‑used life.
🌿 Limited Editions
Because I work alone and craft each piece slowly, every design is released in limited editions. This keeps the work honest — measured by time, intention, and the capacity of two hands rather than the speed of production.
Each bag carries a hand‑stamped, numbered label, marking its place in the lineage. No two numbers repeat, and no two pieces are ever quite the same. It’s a quiet record of the moment it was made, the materials chosen, and the care that shaped it.
These numbers aren’t about scarcity for its own sake.
They’re about honoring the pace of true craft — the kind that can’t be rushed, replicated, or scaled without losing its soul.
Every piece has a beginning.
Yours is marked in ink and impression, one number at a time.
